จะเห็นว่าเราอยู่ระดับเดียวกับลาวและกัมพูชา และที่น่าสนใจคือคนไทยที่ไปสอบ TOEFL นั้น 80% ต้องเรียนพิเศษก่อนไปสอบ ซึ่งชาติอื่นๆจะใช้วิธีอ่านหนังสือเตรียมสอบเอง นี่ขนาดเรียนพิเศษแล้วนะครับ ถ้าไม่เรียนเราคงไม่ได้อยู่ระดับเดียวกับลาวและกัมพูชาแน่ๆ ...ซึ่งมันตีความได้ว่าเราเป็นที่โหล่ในอาเซียน ทีนี้เรามาดูตัวชี้วัดตัวต่อไปครับ

การวัดคุณภาพ Englisgh Profiency Index (EFI)

จะแบ่งออกเป็น 5 ระดับ คือ 5 ความสามารถสื่อสารภาษาอังกฤษอยู่ในระดับสูงมาก, 4 เท่ากับสูง ไล่ลงไปจนกระทั้ง 1 ซึ่งแปลว่า "อยู่ในระดับต่ำมาก" ผลปรากฏว่าประเทศในแถบอาเซ๊ยนมีสองประเทศเท่านั้นที่ได้ 1 คือ ไทย และ กัมพูชา ..นอกนั้นใครๆก็สูงกว่าเราครับ

ถ้าเป็นอย่างนี้เราจะแข่งขันกับเขาไม่ได้ และถือว่าตกอยู่ในสถานการณ์น่าเป็นห่วงอย่างยิ่ง การค้าระหว่างประเทศเขาใช้ภาษาอังกฤษในระดับสูงมากครับ มันไม่ใช่แค่พูดคุยได้แบบ "ปาป่าย่าป๊อกป๊อก" หรืออะไรแบบนั้น คนรุ่นผมและรุ่นแก่ๆกว่าผม คงไม่ทันกินแล้ว เพราะจบมหาลัยมาหลายปีแล้ว คงไม่มีโอกาสจะไปเรียนภาษาอังกฤษ แต่อยากให้คนรุ่นใหม่ๆ ใส่ใจในภาษาอังกฤษกันมากขึ้น เพื่อความสามาถในการแข่งขันของประเทศเราเอง

ส่วนสถิติที่บอกว่าคนไทยเรียนพิเศษก่อนไปสอบ TOEFL แต่เรียนแล้วก็ได้คะแนนเท่าคนลาวและคนกัมพูชาที่ไม่ต้องเรียนพิเศษอะไร มันฟ้องถึงคุณภาพการเรียนการสอนทั้งในระบบโรงเรียน และนอกระบบอีกด้วย ทุกวันนี้คนเสียเงินไปเรียนพิเศษภาษาอังกฤษกันก็ไม่ใช่ถูกๆ แต่ดูเหมือนจะเสียเงินเปล่าๆ

ถามจริงๆ มีใครเรียน "AXX" จบ 14 คอร์ส แล้วพูดภาษาอังกฤษได้บ้าง????
